Lighting is around 22% of the global expense in energy. Many say that massive introduction of LEDs for general lighting will afford a significant reduction of that percentage. Many others point out that cheaper 'lumens' will simply increase the total number of lumens and that 22% share will remain the same and it seems that this share has been a constant along 20th century. Is there any study on this? (suggested by a student of 'Efficient and Intelligent Lighting' at University of Barcelona).
