Amorphous superlattices as for example those of alternated SiO2/a-Si, SiOx/a-SiC, ... and many other combinations of group IV semiconductors as wells and combined with silicon-based dielectric barriers. Would it be possible for thin enough barriers to have miniband formation and even conduction? Would it be possible to have coherent transport as for crystalline superlattices showing Negative Diferential Conductance, Wannier Stark Ladders?
I think it's difficult conceptually because amorphous materials already have localised wavefunctions. I would think that to modify the band structure by confinement you would have to make superlattices with layers thinner than the localisation radius of the wavefunctions, so perhaps
Only with the proper resonance wvelentgh of light can those wavefunctions be made delocalized and produce a long range order-like effect in the amorphous superlattice material
