Reinfection is a significant feature of many respiratory viruses, such as influenza viruses, RSV, and the endemic coronaviruses. There are serious concerns regarding reinfection with SARS-CoV-2, which may enable this pathogen to become endemic.

I however feel that the characteristic pathophysiology of viruses cannot be linked to only one hypothesis or theory. We might need to keep our fingers crossed while we do our best on the ongoing measures to prevent and curtail the spread of COVID-19. We know a lot about the origin but less of the actual cause of its rapid pandemicity. All parts of the world is affected by the pandemic; if its going to become endemic, which part of the world are we expecting endemicity and why? I hope that as soon as the vaccine goes round, the infection and reinfection cease to be a problem worldwide.
