Dear sirs,

Our macaw monitoring research involves the acquisition of radio collars with programmable pulse duration (in milliseconds) and pulse interval (in seconds).

I would like the radio collars to have the longest service life possible and this implies shorter duration pulses and longer intervals between pulses, to spare its batteries.

I intend to use pulses with a duration of 20ms and an interval of 2s.

Would you please comment on the duration and interval of pulses used in your research?

I am concerned about the possibility of using too short pulses or too long intervals make difficult to spot the radio signal when searching for it with the radio receiver.

Thanks
