Preverbal children are the most demanding group of patients which range from new borns to small children of up to two and a half years who cannot speak to communicate clearly.
Preverbal children are the most difficult patients for doctors working in rushy OPDs because the mothers are keen in expecting a clear and rapid answer from them about their kid's visual status. If a quick screening test exists, it solves the problem of both the doctor and the patient's mother and the valued time of the health facility. IZZP Device (see attachment) is being used in Pakistan and bordering areas effectively as a visual screening device for preverbal children.
IZZP Device is constructed on the basis of three principles,
1. Preferential looking 2. Contrast sensitivity and 3. Visual attentional function of the babies.
