Why we only consider TAN value in biofloc (as i read in most of the papers) to maintain the C:N ratio. Why not Nitrite and Nitrate values. Nitrate and Nitrite also contribute in Nitrogen content, for example, say the value of TAN is 1 ppm (we don't know the ammonium or ammonia) and we start to calculate the dose of carbon to maintain the ration 15:1 say. But suppose say Nitrite value is 10 ppm and nitrate value is 2 ppm and Tan value is 0.5 ppm. So if we are talking about Nitrogen in the system so all must be considered? Like in the here Total calculated nitrogen must be (10+2+0.5 ppm) . Please suggest your valuable comment on this.
