Dear Imtiaz, I totally agree with you. It should be called Summer catarrh. name was probably given by someone living in northern countries. For them, their summer is like pakistani spring.
So far, I think it is called "Spring Catarrh" because on the onset of the disease with the outbreak of the fresh pollen in the spring causing the start of the allergy which is further aggravated during summer and becomes more symptomatic.
Dear Pabita Dhungel if you have focused your concentration on pollen only than your comment seems correct but etiology of VKC is not restricted to pollen only. In my last 45 years ophthalmic practice, I have seen more than 90% of VKC patients in the summer season, therefore clinically the term "summer catarrh" seems more appropriate. Your observations are very important for me because your answers are always focused and your approach to problem solving is indeed factual.
