Why we use alcohol solvents in synthesis of metal oxides like TiO2, ZnO2 ......etc
I think we can synthesis titanium dioxide via Sol gel without using alcohol solvents? But does this photo catalyst obtained is different from others?
What's the function of alcohol solvents in Sol gel synthesis?

Because we think that they are the best solvents which is not contamined our samples. But there is some effects on the samples. Look at the articles.

Yes synthesis influence the final product. Multtple procedures exist for Sol-Gel preparations.
Within the linkes publication the crystalisation of ZnO is induced and the grow of the ZnO is suppressed by using alcohols. The key of this synthesis (driving force) is the "insolublity" of the NaCl in the alcohol. The "monomeric units" during the reaction are water soluble growing if more water is present (ZnO tents to from Zn, Cl, OH products).
ZnO is soluble in acids or bases whereas TiO2 is "not soluble" at all. The dispersion is a completely different topic. Normally this depends on the final application.
