Most often students seem more worried about the grade than the mastery of the subject matter they taught. Nevertheless, in that respect there are some unique students who did hate to submit immature assignment, though the consequence was downgrading them as the deadline passes each day. Thus, is there any reason why some tend to focus on the grade than mastering the subject? Let me get your views in the context of undergraduate education.

Young students must be warned about the games that are played concerning grades in a number of universities such as:
1) In joint exams for general courses, some dishonest instructors may hint at or reveal some questions to their sections & this will lead to "good" marks compared to the marks of other sections who had no idea what the exam questions will look like.
The dishonest instructors will boast or show off in order to be praised but they harmed their students enormously.
2) An instructor, who worships overtime work for the sake of extra money, will give high grades in his courses to allure "innocent" students who are unaware of his aims. This game may work but the students are actually cheated.
3) Some deceitful instructors will "buy" the students by high grades to get good evaluations from the students or to ward off any complaint from them at the end of each semester.
4) Some devious instructors may give good grades to particular students for discriminatory racist purposes with no minimum attention to merits.
The aforementioned examples demonstrate that grades are "meaningless" in such cases. What is meaningful ,for students, is to understand & master the topics they have learnt.
I lost count of how many times I called for "oral exams" when students join an undergraduate or a postgraduate program. This way, the "secretive" destructive games of deception concerning "high grades" will be exposed & the students' knowledge will be weighed properly.
