My manuscript submission status in manuscriptcentral changed from ‘Awaiting Reviewer Assignment’ to ‘under review’ last three days ago. But today suddenly the status changed back to ‘Awaiting Reviewer Assignment’ again. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
I think there are two possibilities-
1. Editor/associate-editor after preliminary evaluation of your manuscript invited some of the reviewers but non of them give positive response. Thus, they need to search for other reviewers.
2. Or some of the reviewers may agreed to review preliminary, but they declined due to their inconvenience.
But dont worry, your manuscript already have overcome the editorial evaluation, it will go now for review. I dont know my answer satisfied you or not.

Another case would be the conflict of interest. For example, one of the reviewers may have accepted the online invitation initially; and let the editor/associate editor know that s/he may have some conflict of interest. Whether the reviewer was still interested or not, the editor decided to invite other reviewers.
It happened to me, hence saying. But I think these are rare events.
Hopefully, your paper will be rigorously reviewed by an expert in the field and be accepted soon in your intended journal.

One of my manuscript was submitted on 21st of June this year, but it is still showing " Awaiting Reviewer Selection " as status. I also tried to contact the editor through the mail, but unfortunately, they didn't respond.

It's only a month, and why would you withdraw a paper!
I guess you can search on the web how long they typically take for the first decision. It can be a good indicator of how fast they usually process the manuscripts. In general, 15-60 days is quite normal.

It's been only a month. In this pandemic situation, it's highly likely that the processing time will delay a bit longer than normal. I am still waiting to get a response from the reviewer. After posted here, I contacted the editor and she replied that they received one reviewer's comment but couldn't get any feedback from the second reviewer. It's been one and a half months in my case and the status of the manuscript still the same.
However, some journals also have longer processing time, e.g., IEEE journals. One of my manuscripts is there for nearly 4 months. Last month I got the reviewers' comments and submitted the revised manuscript in early July. But since then didn't get any update from them.
So, I think it's better to stay calm and wait to get some positive updates from the Journal.
Probably your manuscript was sent to a reviewer, but due to some unavoidable inconvenience the reviewer decline to review and sent it back to the editor.
