I have designed a four elements antenna array (Phased). But the problem I have faced is that the main lobe of the radiation pattern has splitted in two. What can be done to make it one? Because usually when it is seen in the other works, mostly it has one main lobe. Can someone please help me?
The phase difference between the symmetric elements at two ends must be reaching close to 180 degree that is resulting in cancellation of the fields at the centre. Check why this is happening? Spacing should not matter because at the centre of the array the fields from all antennas travel same distance. It has to do something with the excitation you are providing.
You don't have proper phase distribution among your elements. This problem mainly arises from the unequal phase differences between the elements. Try to modify your structure or try to excite the elements with in-phase signals.
You probably created one half of the array by reflecting the other half, and the feeds go in from the opposite side so they are 180 degrees out of phase.
I am also facing the same problem. I have designed a 2*2 phased array. I have tried with different spaceshift like 0.5-0.7 lamda and also with different phaseshift like 0-0, 90-90, 180-180, 0-90, 0-180 but still the main lobe splitted in two. How to fix it? The ground is commoncommon for the whole array.
Change your feed or feed network so the patches are fed in phase. The null at boresight shows that the two halves are being fed in opposite phase.

It is as I said. Two of you patches are fed from below, and two from above. The top two are the mirror image of the bottom two. This means the currents in them are in the opposite direction. They are 180 degrees out of phase. Either feed all of them from the same side or introduce 180 degrees into one set of feeds.
