Why the front tyres slip angle are larger than the rear tyres in the understeer situation,in contrast, the lateral force of front tyres are smaller than that of the rear tyres, when the slip angle and the lateral force of tyres are the positive correlation?
I am becoming a little confusing here, can anyone help me with this problem?
Dear Mr. Song Lyu, When you increase the vertical load on a tyre, it develops more lateral force/vertical force, but it requires a larger slip angle to do it anyway; generally speaking, as you move to a more forward biassed static mass transfer, you will have more understeer. Indeed, increasing the mass over the front tyres allows them to generate more cornering force.
In layman's terms, when a side force acts at the centre of gravity of an understeering vehicle, the front tyres foster a slip angle greater than the rear tyres.
