Hello,

Is the limiting factor for the dimensions of a sub-unit is the plastic accommodation in the neighbouring austenite ?
Bhadeshia et.al proposed mechanism for formation of sub-units that the supersaturated subunit of bainite grows from austenite, subsequently partitioning carbon in to austenite and increasing its carbon content. The next sub unit then nucleates from the carbon rich austenite near the tip of existing sub unit.
If so then the next sub unit grows in an austenite which have a different strength, and so the ability to accommodate the plastic deformation.
Does that suggest that the dimensions of subunits should not be uniform ?
