Hello Researchers,

Need some guidance and help in understanding the following questions.

what are martensitic doublets and why are they formed in  XRD patterns of martensitic steels.

For e.g (002)/(200) or (112)/(211)

I have come across these doublets in research articles mainly concerning measurements of c/a ratio of martensite or when estimating dissolved carbon in martensite.

However, couldn't find an article explaining why they are caused.

We usually measure retained austenite content on martensitic steels and have never seen such splitting. We use a Cr source with K alpha source. Is it because they are only visible when single wavelength is used i.e. K alpa1.
