I have taken a wire of width W and height H and found that at a breakdown voltage of V, current is equal to I. Now is I split the wire into two parallel wires of width w1 and w2 such that w1+w2=w, keeping height constant , I am getting more current at same breakdown voltage.Why the current increases?
I am not sure if I got your question correctly.
Assuming you are using cables with a circular area, the question is on the difference between having one cable W and two cables w1+w2=w
According to second Ohm’s Law, R= ro * L/A where A is the area of the cable, ro is depending on the material (e.g. copper, gold, etc) and L is the length.
So the point is how w has an impact on A, that is the area of a circle, namely A= pi ((w/2) ^ 2)= pi (w^2)/4
It would be the same iff
w1^2 +w2^2=W^2 with w1+w2=W
but W^2= w1^2 +w2^2 + 2w1w2 that is different from w1^2 +w2^2
