I calculated the back-scattering energy of YAG:Ce single particle (spherical in shape and size 5um) by using mie plot. The refractive index of sphere is 1.8480 and surrounding medium is air with refractive index of 1.00029. The incident wavelength is set as 0.46um.

I calculated again back-scattering energy of particle in EVA. In this case surrounding medium is EVA with refractive index of 1.5346. the rest of the parameters are same. I have found that the backscattering energy of particle in EVA is lower than air. Can anyone explain why?
