Dear Colleagues,

I've started working on seismic pile-soil-structure behavior and I'm following a literature paper published in 1991 by Gazetas et. al. In the paper, a free single pile was modeled in elastic soil medium and dynamic loading exerted with different frequencies. In low-frequency domains, the pile response is the same with the soil and when the frequency gets higher the behavior is changing, and the displacement of the pile and surrounding soil tends to decrease.

But when I repeat the same analyses under 3D FEM conditions with linear elastic material properties and using harmonic sinusoidal waves in both x and y directions at the same time, in high frequencies the pile response is almost the same with the free-field conditions.

Which parameters and conditions may affect the results? I really need your help.
