Why supported nickel catalyst usually use NiNO3 as a precursor rather than NiCl2?

Catalyst precursors

Generally the presence of chloride anions in supported metal catalyst may lead to some acidity upon calcination of the catalyst. on the other hand, the nitrate anion will decompose and produce no acidic behavior.
