Why sometimes when performing IFX for a case with a light chain without correspondoing heavy chain, there is no free light chains detected?

when performing IFX for a case with a monoclonal band, sometimes we detect a band of light chain without corresponding heavy chain, but when we use antiserum for free light chains as a second step, no band is detected. Is there any explanation? Thanks
