Sometimes certain technologies have clear edge for their superiority.
For instance, polio vaccine in India is free but despite that till now country is not declared polio free due to certain existing cases though the percentage is ultra low.
What could be the reason?
An adoptions of innovations has affected by many factors but it's local availability with reasonable price will matter. Technology shoud proven better than previous one in respect of economic benefits

Sometimes even if it is proven , fails to catch up.
For example ,in Punjab drip irrigation or fertigation is not becoming popular and it's benefits are known to every agricultural scientist.
People sometimes care about only unintended consequences!!
I think it depends on necessity also in punjab plenty of water is available for crop growth but in maharashtra only 19 % area under irrigation so drip irrigation is need of the time.

The biggest illusion is that Punjab has sufficient water.
Reality is different.
Out of 128 blocks,more than 80 per cent have turned grey which means any amount of rainfall can't recharge it.
Farmers are fetching water from 600 ft deep with 25 hp motors.Overall BC ration is narrower now.
