Forest and tree are essential for human life. The forest cover in most tropical countries is declining to an alarming speed. A recent account of the world’s forest, FAO(2016) shows that within the exception of India, where there has been a small improvements, all tropical countries have lost forest cover with in the 2010-2015 period.Why people/policymakers are not focusing as much like other sector.
Your question is good , considering the importance of forest vis-a-via agriculture and somewhere both compliment each other .But I disagree with your concern about the lesser preference given to forestry sector, which plays so important role in moderating the impact of climate change. There are many organisations dedicated exclusively to forest research and aforestation as well..

you are right, many organization are working in forestry sector but sir forestry research funding's are very less as comparison to other sector. Forestry should be given equal importance like other sector. They are the heart of our system.
There are some classical efforts highlighting the marriage between agriculture and forestry like social forestry, agro-forestry etc..Any country cannot safeguard its environment without emphasis on forestry, leave aside the importance of forests...
