In most cases, this is indeed the case. The test is a common, simple, allows us to compare the results obtained by other authors. But also using Vi-antigen (see the work of PF Zabrodskii and others in PudMed). I advise you to read the paper: "Modeling and predicting immunological effects of chemical stressors: characterization of a quantitative biomarker for immunological changes caused by atrazine and ethanol". The monograph RV Petrov et al. (Petrov RV, Khaitov RM Manko VM Mikhailov AA. The control and regulation of the immune response. - Moscow, Medicine, 1981. - 312 p.) Investigate the immune response to a variety of microorganisms and toxoids (Cl. perfringtns and others).

Dear Dr. Zabrodski, thanks for your detailed response. I know that KLH is also used by various workers.
I would like to reframe my question again....Why only sheep RBCs are used, and why not RBCs from any other species, as an antigen in immune related tests?
Can be used not only as sheep RBC, but also RBC and other animals (rabbit , guinea pig , pig , goat , cow (bovine ) as well as humans.
The sheep RBC - it's "tradition ", the sheep RBC are used , starting from the 19th - early 20th centuries. A sheep is very suitable for animal fence RBC, you can pick up a large amount of blood to various laboratories. Guinea pigs, rabbits , pigs , goats , cows, and other ways of "worse " than sheep . А sheep have always been for the fence RBC in each of bacteriological ( immunological ) laboratory. Use of other animals are likely to be less convenient . And ! - Tradition!
Peak immune response (IgM) after immunization RBC - 4-5 day? IgG - 14 days . A RBC other animals , I think , cause the same reaction .
The response to human red blood cells is the same as for sheep RBC ( I researched ) .
I was interested in your question. I thought I looked through a lot of literature, but have not found an answer to the question: "Why in the 19th century, it was used in the first RBS sheep bacteriological examinations?". Still use.
I have already expressed my opinion. Sheep - very suitable animal for repeated blood sampling.
Hello Dr. Zabrodskii.....thanks for all your efforts in providing such a detailed reply to my query..
I agree with your opinion that sheep blood is more of 'traditional', as the early research would have originated from some cold countries. However, I think that goat would also make a good source for such experiments depending on the regions of the world where they are easily available.
I have also same question. Why only sheep RBCs? Because I have tried to induce an inflammation in mouse by goat RBCs but the antibody titre is not detected at all after 6 days. Why this is so?
