When your seat on an airplane is half occupied by your obese neighbour, it will be impossible to relax, never mind withstand an 8-hour flight. I know my neighbour was very sick, even if he acted like normal.
My younger sister almost died when her weight reached down to about 40 kg (average height). She has recovered since.
Obesity implies the new age curse of exuberance, where improved quality lifec has actually led higher incidence of fat & glucose accumulation in various tissues leading to what we medically term as lipotoxicity & glucotoxicity.
Their toxic effects span from neuropathy, retinopathy, neohropathy & microangiopathy which in non medical terms lead to Cardiovadcular diseases like heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, hypertension, kidney diseases, liver problems like NASH, reproductive issues like PCOS.
So this so termed the" plague of modern era" can be termed as the mother of many medical problems.
The whole organism functions according to the principle of equilibrium. Any factor that disrupts this balance, in the end, always leads to illness. I agree with colleagues for everything mentioned above. Obesity causes many diseases and carries the highest risk of developing diabetes, atherosclerosis that can lead to stroke and myocardial infarction. Malnutrition will disrupt the gastrointestinal tract, lead to atrophy of the intestines, will burden the kidneys with creatinine, may even lead to the cessation of their function, etc.
As Jess C. Scott states, "The human body is the best work of art.” Notably, physical fitness is the most important key to a healthy body and it is prerequisite to dynamic and creative intellectual activities. Being underweight or overweight very often leads to the loss of confidence in oneself. However, a person's self worth is not determined by the number on a weighing scale. Rather, for ascertaining human's worth, we need to have a more powerful compass because every human life is worth the same and we cannot change things by skipping the awful parts. We have to accept ourselves as we are. However, it is appropriate to stay fit by regular exercising and discarding the bad habits which adversely affect our mood, happiness, and appearance.
Obesity may cause hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease, osteoarthritis, stroke, depression and cancer while underweight often leads to weakening of immune system, anaemia, osteoporosis, fatigue, impaired growth and infertility.
