Why microstructure observation is important with respect to metal or materials world? What is the role of image processing techniques in this microstructure observation and interpretation aspects?
Let say we can identify a phase by applying various image processing techniques from SEM microstructure image. So, what will be the application of that identified phase in materials science?
the micro structure observation can determine the grain size ,shape and distribution of various phases and inclusions which have great influence in the mechanical property of the metal. with this it is possible to predict or change it's expected behavior as per our requirement under different condition.
