I Did some heat treatment with MgO substrates with (100), (110), (111). I observe significant changes on MgO (100) surface morphology (atomic steps), but other two substrate remain unchanged. Why? any scientific logical explanation??

you need to DTA or DSC to check the glass transition temperature and the crystallization temperature to decide the suitable temperature of heat treatment it may be lower than the effective temperature.

How did you observe the morphology of the surface in each case ? By AFM ?
The (111) surface is not stable and surface reconstruction should occur. Take a look at the attachment, it might help you.
