It is said that in maching allele model there is no costs for pathogenicity and resistance! I have always asked this question from myself: Infecing the plant requires tools that pose physiological costs to the pathogen. Resisting the invading pathogen would also pose physiological costs on the plant. I cannot imagine a case where pathogen can develop capability of invading a plant at no cost or a plant can develop all the requirements for stopping an invading pathogen at no cost. How that is possible?
