I am preparing the invasion transwell assay using glioblastoma U87-MG cells. I saw some videos how to fix and stain cells after invasion experiment - usually peoples used crystal violet (CV) and stain cell which migrated to the bottom layer of the insert but also they add CV into the insert. My question is why it is importnat since non-migrating cells that remained on the upper surface of the filter are
removed with cottonwool ?
