Why is triton-X100 not working as a Death Control in LDH Assay?

Our lab keeps getting consistently higher lysate readings than supernatant readings when doing an LDH assay with Triton-X100 as a cell death control. A complementary assay shows triton-X is killing the cells, so what could be going wrong with the assay? It is working for other conditions.
