We talk about alignment between strategy and structure, and also between firm strategy and functional strategy. Nadler and Tushman (1978) give an information processing perspective to the need for strategy - structure alignment. Are there other such perspectives? I am especially looking for theories that explain why alignment between firm strategy and functional strategy is necessary. Thanks.
