I recently added a new subbasin element to represent the rooftop catchment areas into my existing basin model in HEC-HMS. The downstream of the said rooftop elements were reservoirs with predetermined storage sizes.However, after running the simulation, the newly added rooftop elements received no precipitation, as seen in the summary for each element. In the global summary table, the volume generated was negative. Can anyone explain to me why the program generated negative values for the volume? And also, why did the said rooftop subbasins had zero precipitation?
You should recheck the connection of the components in your Basin Model Manager. Make sure all subbasins are connected to each other by the reach to junction to the outlet in order from Upstream to Downstream. You can also try to check the subbasin assigned to gauge in Meteorologic Model Manager.
