You are absolutely right, I think (but you are too polite to say). This may be a sign that this journal (or editor or both) are not as efficient as you would like. The journal office might not have even sent the manuscript to the editor or the editor has not opened their email inbox.

First, check the publisher's policy on the timeframe for considering a manuscript for review. Your findings will help you in making the right decision

Journals vary considerably in their timing upon receiving a manuscript. For example, the editors might meet only once every two weeks to consider new papers. And they vary even more in how long it takes to get reviews and make final decisions, so you will need to be patient.

In certain journals, that might last till 1 year to get an answer. You have to be patient, the duration is not correlated with the quality of your work ^_^

For sure you need to be patient. I am waiting more than 6 months for such information.

Many factors are involved after submitting an article to a journal. Obviously, the first step is to go through the editorial board, and it usually takes around 1-2 weeks for the manuscript to get consideration. Often when the journal is in the course of its issue publication, the workload is quite hectic, and thereby the newer submitted manuscript gets pushed down to low consideration. Other than that the availability of the assigned authority of the editorial board also affects the process. So kindly recheck with the editorial board after 2 weeks of submission. Just email them politely about the status of your manuscript, and within a day or two they will get back to you.
