Why is 17B HSD-3 called type 3, I do not understand the 3 and likewise other isozyme type 1 and type 2?

Can any one explain why the 17B HSD3 is called type 3?

17HSD type 1 acts as a reductase converting oestrone into oestradiol, whereas 17HSD type 2 possesses oxidative activity inactivating oestradiol by converting it into oestrone.(Biochem J. 1996 Mar 15; 314(Pt 3): 839–845). According to Khan et al., 2004), there are a lot of isoforms. They can be grouped into in vivo oxidative enzymes (17beta-HSD types 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 14) and in vivo reductive enzymes (17beta-HSD types 1, 3, 5 and 7).
