I have used UV Visible spectroscopy for heavy metal adsorption study. I'm getting absorbance for heavy metal solution even without adding any color reagents. Whether I can follow the same method for my study or Is it necessary I should use Atomic absorption spectroscopy or ICP?
What heavy metal you are talking about? Please make sure that those metal have transitions in the UV-visible range. Signal arising due to d-d transitions are generally very weak (forbidden transition) and the concentrations need to be increased significantly in order to see those signals.
I would suggest to consider AAS, which can be use for most of the metals and is easier than ICP.
Many Methods are available for determination of heavy metals by uv spectroscopy but the sensitivity of result depend upon metal to be detected and concentration.
