I'm working on a simulation in ansys fluent which is about the melting of a PCM in a vertical triplex tube.
As you see in the below pictures i did a structured mesh and then the results was good in the beginnig but after a while it's not.
I spent a lot of time in this but nothing to say.
I though maybe there's a problem in the thermophysical properties of the PCM and i did some changes like input as polynomial for some thermophysical properties but nothing it goes worst.
I am getting the same issue after the melting of the PCM. I have a few questions for you.
1. Is your material a mixture of PCM and other materials?
2. Did you see the numerical model (in red) you are trying to reproduce?
Please share the paper that you are currently reproducing. I am attaching a picture of what I am getting so for.
Thermophysical properties are *inputs* not "model results". If you get a realistic result from ANSYS Fluent, that is cause for celebration. It's not the least bit surprising that you might get erroneous results from this or any other "canned" software.
Thermo-physical properties (inputs) for the PCM are may not same for your current present simulation with that published paper.

I think the problem is your grid. It looks too coarse. I suggest you generate a better grid preferably with a uniform cell size. Also, you should do a grid study test.

I did a grid study and i performed a uniform cell size.
I thought maybe the problem is in the material properties cuz the experimental work i'm trying to model had mesured some thermophysical properties of the material, i utilised those values of course but as you see ofter 3300s in the graph comparison there's some differences and i don't know what to do i don't think the problem is from the simulation configuration but maybe at the values of the MCP properties i guess.

My PCM is not a mixture it's RT35 and i've seen the numerical model in red but there's no détails.
the problem maybe not at the simulation but at the thermophysical properties values: they're not all specified in the research.
