In most of the reports on ecotoxicological effects of pesticides on microalgae very high concentrations(50-100mg/L) of pesticides are used.According to author the concentrations were chosen based on initial range finding experiment. These concentrations are very high as compared to concentrations actually found in the contaminated environment. The authors usually mention that their study will be useful in environmental risk assessment.I want to know how can environmental risk be informed while considering environmentally unrealistic concentrations in their study.
