I have been using the free version of Fityk software for a couple of years. But since recent day's I am unable to execute a .txt or .csv file. whenever I tried to do so it displays the 'syntax error'. what does that mean? can anyone please suggest, how to resolve this problem?
Actually when I select the file in Open window, I can see the plot. But when I select 'open in a new window ' it shows the error message mentioned above. For an example please see the file attached herewith.

fityk software is being developed in huge leaps - with a lots of changes from version to version. Go through "release updates" to find if acceptable file syntax has changed. Another option is to download older version on which you know your files work.
Despite the fact fityk is a god piece of software, for research purpose I would suggest to give a try to anaconda python distribution and wakari platforms:

This is how I've solved the problem. Since I was keeping my file in the folder located as-
D\folder\folder\folder\folder\folder\folder\file..
It looks like the Fityk software was unable to locate (I guess). Now I started to keep it at the location as-
D\folder\folder\file
Fityk could execute it. For the first time, I faced this (unusual) problem.
