I agree that a consilience (to use the phrase coined by E.O. WIlson 1998) is on the horizon. And a good analogy and metaphor to capture your vein of thought can be found in Bill Gate's idea of a digital nervous system, which he advances and envisions in his book entitled: Business at the Speed of Thought (1999).  Furthermore since we have the quantified self movement- an effort to record almost every minute instance of our personalized experiences, think about what a similar approach will do for businesses and organizations. Obviously some will argue that human interactions, even institutional ones are much too organic and fluid to be realistically captured in bits and bytes. But look at how digitization and the creation of bioinformatics as a discipline has transformed the life sciences.It turns out that more digitized information, even about life as elusive and as complex as it is, is better than mere rhetoric.

I will add that this consilience (thanks for the word) will also deal with the question of human interactions by clarifying the divide between human and other symbolic systems: data and information for the latter, knowledge processing, decision making and responsibility for the former.
