The HR ESIMS of a compound we obtained from natural source seems to exhibit a carbonate adduct. If this has already been reported, please kindly send me the paper.
"Carbonate" is too vague. Is it a (mono?)alkyl carbonate? Noel Davies suppose that it is the carbonate ion (CO3)2- (60 Da), it may be also the "bicarbonate" (HCO3)-.
Many thanks for your kind help. I was thinking about the carbonate ion (CO3)2-(60 Da) but from the explanation given by Professor Davies I am now suspecting the bicarbonate ion (HCO3)- since we don’t have a peak at (M+60)/2.
If there is a bicarbonate ion, the adduct should be (M-H+HCO3)2-. Please do know if it is possible to observe this adduct in the negative ion mode ESI mass spectrum? Thank you once more.
