I haven't heard of any form of community at the technician level outside of their principle lab. No pizza meetings or seminars designed specifically with the technician in mind. 

Most seem to operate only within the bubble that is their own lab. While applying for medical or graduate school in seclusion. Rarely sharing techniques, protocols or ways to simplify ones life.

Perhaps researchgate is the wrong audience to ask as most users are not technicians but any insight is welcome.
