In individual countries, depending on the structure of the classical energy based on the combustion of minerals, depending on the strength of the mining industry of minerals and power plants burning minerals, the possibilities of developing pro-ecological energy based on renewable energy sources are diversified.

Why does the development of energy based on renewable energy sources in individual countries develop at different rates?

Pre-ecological energy is associated with a wide spectrum of aspects, including:
- Pro-ecological attitudes and habits of energy-users.
- Their willingness to pay (WtP) for energy produced by renewable energy sources.
- The pro-efficiency behaviour while using energy devices ( such as switching energy devices when no used, or purchasing energy-saving household appliances).
- Demographic and societal factors of pro-ecological behaviour and impacting.
For us here in Malaysia, we are blessed with both abundance in mineral availability as well as natural resources to harness energy for the country's consumption. To scale it even smaller, my home state, Sarawak, in the island of Borneo have abundance in non-renewable resources such as oil, gas and coal, and we also have ample renewable resources such as water and even sunlight as we lies strategically in the equator. Currently, our state energy mix for electricity, for example, are about 74% hydro and the rest contributed by natural gas as well as coal. We attribute this development to the government policy in which they understand that developing renewable energy sources for the state energy needs will be essential for our future.
For me, what determine the rates of an individual country in adopting more renewable energy development are (1) the objectives and outlooks for the country future energy need, (2) the country's policies in encouraging renewable energy and (3) the return gain by switching into renewable. We have to agree that all development will require a tangible outcome or otherwise, no one will find it interesting in developing renewable energy that does not give any financial benefits by the end of it. Just saying it is good for the Earth wouldn't do it for us anymore as our world now are driven by monetary values.
1) different countries provide different incentives / support / financial benefits to consumers (individual as well as corporate) when they use alternative energy resources.
2) in different countries awareness is different on the need of alternative energy resources
3) in different countries people's purchasing power to afford alternative energy sources, which often are more costly than conventional energy.
