Hi,

In most of the numerical techniques, either FVM or immerse boundary or any grid based methods, people mention that finer mesh is required near the wall boundary for laminar or turbulent flow.

From my experience also, when coarse mesh is used near the wall, the solution is damped, whereas finer mesh near the wall and coarser mesh in the internal cell produces smooth solution.

What is the mathematical reason behind this behaviour? Somehow I tried to relate it to interpolation in FVM. If anyone has clear picture about it, let me know.
