Please don't get me wrong. I'm totally aware that this 'distinction' might exist just due to historic reasons or for no special reason at all. Nethertheless, I'm curious wether there's justification for separating scanning electron microscopy from field emission scanning electron microscopy from a microscopy technique's point of view or not.
