I have not found a definitive answer to which of the commonly used scientific names for this organism is officially accepted today. Various references use different names such as G. duodenalis, G. lamblia, and G. intestinalis without categorically stating which one is THE official name. Are all still officially acceptable?
For a scientific paper or presentation it's better to use Giardia sp. or Giardia spp. and then give the assemblage(s) if appropriate as the species level taxonomy for all three names have been shown flawed phylogenetically and superceded by assemblage annotations. Although there have been some attempts to reconcile species name usage with the assemblages, they haven't been widely or uniformly taken up, so the status quo is imperfect from a Linnean perspective but is functional.
