My understanding is that in a correlational study, we are not actually looking for the effect of IV. Moreover, only intervention studies are where the audience would be interested to know of the EFFECT of the. In other words, i mean to say that not every research design is meant to produce/report an effect size. Hence, if no intervention was given, any metric of effect size would not be meaningful.
