It has been more than three decades since HIV/AIDS has already spread throughout all the five continents (North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia). A lot has been done to minimize the spread of the diseases. Different governmental and non-governmental organizations, civic societies and individuals have tried  to create awareness about HIV at global, national and regional levels. Despite all those efforts, HIV/AIDS is still one of the major killer diseases, particularly in the developing regions.

Researchers have also worked day and night to discover and develop therapeutic and/or prophylactic agents against HIV/AIDS. For example, different research laboratories and companies have developed different vaccine candidates so far. Unfortunately,  the vaccine candidates did not show promising protective efficacy during pre-clinical and clinical trials. Why?
