This morning in East Yorkshire, UK at around 7.25 (i.e. after day break) we could see the moon (silvery in the morning sky) and a paler image fairly close to it. I can't find an explanation on Google and would be really interested to know.

Thank you, Mahesh Premarathna, for your interest. When we looked about 20 minutes later, the secondary moon was nowhere to be seen.
The weather conditions: cloudy but quite bright. Was about the same as it is now: 10 degrees centigrade, wind speed 12mph and gusty so it feels colder.
I think it may be a result of the diffraction of moonlight waves
Thank you Mahesh Premarathna. I'm not familiar with this terminology; could you explain it for me? I looked it up but don't know if I have got the concept right. Was the brightest moon from the light waves coming directly from the moon and the secondary moon due to light waves being bent (due to atmospheric water droplets?), so reaching us in a slightly different place in the sky? I do appreciate your help on this and am finding it interesting.

I have read the link - some of it twice. Parts are familiar (from a long time ago!) but more is new information. If I use this as reference, are you able to help me with the explanation of seeing two moons?
