Could the source of such a situation be the political or the religious views?
If so, what are the sources?:
– growing social inequalities caused by excessive capital accumulation, leading to the impoverishment of society?
– clash of cultures as a result of mass immigration to richer countries?
– social alienation of people with a low level of education and standard of living?
– hatred of the poor for the rich?
– fanaticism?
– overvalued ideas?
– psychiatric problems?
– ultranationalism?
– lack of acceptance of people with different worldviews, cultures, and traditions?
– inappropriate government policy?
– the self-destructive nature of majority democracy, in which random people can come to power for whom the fulfillment of their own needs dominates over society's and state's needs?
– the use of extreme and/or radical political, social ideas or religious beliefs as a tool for subordinating others to own needs?

What do you think, are the current governments and societies able to cope with this problem in the near future, at least by limiting the destructive power of these sources?
If so, what steps, in your opinion, should be taken to achieve this target?
You must connect it to the proliferation of media through new technology. The flooded market (both by spatial integration and temporally through historical accumulation, and soon also through AI transformations). This allows the consumer to select a tailored stream or choose only the things they like on-demand. You can choose the path of least resistance, and this results in echo chambers, which again leads to a lack of understanding of opposing views. It also leads to a belief within the echo chamber that certain things are objectively true, and then it follows that truth becomes relative. And suddenly there is Donald Trump. In the united states free speech on steroids. Q-anon. "What I say is the truth" "I define truth". In fact all consumers now define truth by selecting out what they do not like. Just like Trump.
The media are not the source, but a tool for controlling people's behavior, ideas, and decisions made by them.
You are right, as consumer in the digital age you can lock yourself in, in a way you could not do before. We can take something simple. If i move to China, I can still live exclusively in a Norwegian media environment, even though i am physically located on the other side of the planet. If I am an astronomer, I can watch nothing but astronomy news. If I am a nazi I can also isolate myself inside that universe. The problem is that the ease of use involved in the information revolution, also entails ease of dis-use. Of ignoring what you do not like. Of avoiding "mental pain" altogether. As a consumer of culture and partly also of products, my choices are almost without limit. The It revolution has placed the free speech philosophy that existed within the US on steroids. I am now talking about teh totalitarian tendencies within the west. In order parts of the world, it is poverty, fanatiscism, lust for power, all the other things we know from the past. I was thinking mostly about what trump actually represents in our age. And as you see, I find the causes not in him specifically but in ways that the lives of everyone has changed. But this is western-centric. You will know more about your country than i do, and what i say may not be as relevant in all parts of the world.
I see that you are from Poland, and I do not have a very good knowledge of why Poland is the way it is. But it is rising quickly and is bound to become a very powerful nation. The reason why conservative ideas persist I think is due to the way the communist period put a lid on some social changes that occurred in the west. So it takes a little more time to find out what you think about certain things. You were not totally free to explore thoughts during the communist period (i am not sure whether you agree. But that is my impression from the news)
The reason why there was a right wing shift in some countries in europe is quite simple. It was the war on terror. It released hords refugees that flooded Europa and which right wingers used as an alibi to seduce the masses. Now this is a while back, but the parties established themselves in many countries. And the pattern was then set. The European Trumpers have renamed the results of US aggression in the middle east (refugee crisis), an outcome of "globalism". And an EU conspiracy to "import left wing voters". So you must isolate yourself, not only within your echo chamber, but also within your borders. And be the dictator of your own truth. So first the republican party created a European problem, which they then re-branded and used in marketing.
I think i have given an explanation. It may not be what you wanted. But I sketched up recent history, and i tried to put the trump element into a context. many of the totalitarian representatives within the europe are spawns of the immigration problem. And this problem exploded after the problems following the war on terror. I also tried to explain Trump within the US. But there is another interpretation of your question, namely that Democracies preach more now than before. i don't think so. also, I fail to see how this is detrimental to European societies? But if I still misunderstand you, maybe you can just briefly clarify your question so that others do not repeat my mistake?
I see you list psychiatric problems, and that i do have some opinions on. It is because when people have fewer children, and when family bonds loosen, care is transferred to the state. But paid care by professionals can never replace true love of any kind. All a professional can offer is analysis. The care part must be covered by real humans.
Without going into the details, one can say that although there are many sources of extreme radicalism, all of them are based on the material premises (of course excluding fanaticism and psychiatric problems).
Radical behaviors, however all of them have a material character, usually stem from the eternal human tendency to self-aggrandizing and despising others as well as from pursuing power over others, or at least directing the behavior of others to fulfill own selfish needs.
I think that there is a lot of reasons for such situation. There should be an extensive research carried out.
One of the reasons might be that people feel unsafe. It is significant that in states where public authorities provide people with social support/aid, the latter feel relevantly safer than in other states without social aid.
The second reason might be the lost of credibility in public life in general which encourage people to fight for their rights (sometimes very individual ones) and privileges.
