Good advice for them should be clarification regarding the steps for planning experiments, as simple as possible.
The first step is “Question they are asking”.
Based on this question and prior information, they should use proper experiment design. Subsequently, a proper statistical analysis can be used.
Good luck if you are involved in education. Unfortunately, students are sometimes misled by previous backgrounds.
It would be much better if most of those "asking for support" avoid doing so, since in the vast majority of the time the "questions" are childish, if not silly.
