I am working with an HP/Agilent 1100 series HPLC. There was previously a leak in the ball valve which had a cracked seal. I replaced the seal and there is no longer any leaks in the system. However, after this the background pressure is right where it is supposed to be but randomly I have these pressure falls (not UV falls - we have no UV detector). At 1ml/min the pressure is 43bar which is normal for this system with a water/EDTA solution. However, randomly and quickly it will drop down to about 20bar and then shoot back up to normal. I'm afraid that these will ruin my gradient runs if a pressure fall ends up happening when I am collecting sample. I degassed the solutions so that is not the problem either. It also runs through a degasser before reaching the pumped so it is being degassed twice. Why are these random pressure falls happening? Any help would be appreciated.
