Some journals regard systematic reviews, meta-analyses and RCTs as original studies while KAP studies are not considered original by them. Is their scientific basis to their categorization ?
May be because some might consider it as a subjective information that is less to contribute in scientific literature. However even if KAP studies are done nicely, they do contribute a bit to some grey areas.
KAP studies not considered original studies by some journals because it might be simple survey and there may not be novelty in research work suitable for publication.
What if it is a self designed survey which no one has ever used it before and it has been piloted and exploratory factor analysis performed to finalize it's items ? A survey can be novel too and if a survey has not been conducted on a population then it's novel too. If a survey is part of a mixed method hypothesis generating study, then this is novel too
